Tom Pritchard found out his grandmother died Wednesday evening. He then went out and had his best game of the season.
Pritchard had 13 points and five rebounds in Indiana's 78-75 loss to Purdue.
"It was obviously tough to play, but I know she was with me and gave me an extra boost," Pritchard said.
The sophomore avoided foul trouble that has plagued him through a large chunk of his career at IU. All 13 points came in the first half.
"I got a couple of offensive rebounds to get me going," Pritchard said. "Me and Verdell (Jones III) were working the two-man game pretty well. The pick-and-roll was open and I got off to a hot start."
Pritchard will leave the team for a couple of days to go to Pennsylvania. He plans on coming back for Sunday's game with Northwestern.
