Truck rig ban in effect on Toll Road

A wind ban has been issued for the Indiana Toll Road.

The ban means all tractor-trailer rigs that include long doubles and triples (long doubles including steel haulers) that are on the Toll Road can be pulled over and ticketed after inclement weather starts, according to Toll Road police.

The ban is in effect during a winter storm that is forecasted to enter the northeastern Indiana region late Monday or early Tuesday. The storm, which is projected to bring 6 to 10 inches of snow, will continue through Wednesday night, according to the National Weather Service.

A winter storm warning has also been issued for the same area and is in effect until 7 p.m. Wednesday.

The driver of any truck rig matching the above description can be fined if found on the Toll Road during the inclement weather, Toll Road police said. Strong winds can knocked over the rigs.

The Toll Road will remain open for all other vehicles not listed in the ban.
