Police have released the name of a Fort Wayne man critically wounded in a shooting Saturday night.
Marteques L. Black, 20, was the victim, according to a written statement from Raquel R. Foster, public information officer for the Fort Wayne Police Department. No information was immediately available about his condition.
A witness told detectives she and Black were in a car about 10:30 p.m. near Bowser Park at Fisher and Reed streets when a man approached and tried to rob them, said officer John Chambers, Fort Wayne police spokesman, for an earlier story.
The robber pulled a handgun and shot Black. An occupant of the car called police, and the vehicle was driven to Lillie and East Pontiac streets before police and medics caught up with it.
The other person in the car was uninjured, Chambers said.
Officers used a police dog to track the shooter, who fled on foot, but did not find him.
This was the city’s fourth major shooting in a week.
On Friday afternoon, two masked men shot 21-year-old Michael Morgan in his car in the 4800 block of Holton Avenue.
He was critically wounded but later upgraded to fair condition.
Last Sunday, Michael Andrew Green, 32, was fatally shot in his car in the 5200 block of Reed Street.
The day before that, Kamilla Wallace, 20, was shot and killed during a party at an after-hours club at 2624 Central Drive.
