Verbatim: Bolt named district’s top conservation officer

Statement issued Tuesday:

Indiana Conservation Officer Erick J. Bolt was recently selected by the Indiana Conservation Officers of District Two to receive the District Officer of the Year Award for 2009. The counties that comprise District Two are LaGrange, Steuben, Noble, DeKalb, Whitley, Allen, Huntington, Adams, and Wells.

Bolt is assigned to Whitley County, and has been an Indiana Conservation Officer since November 20, 1995.

Bolt could now be selected amongst nine other Indiana Conservation Officers in the State to receive the Pitzer Outstanding-Officer-of-the-Year Award for 2009.

The Pitzer Outstanding-Officer-of-the-Year Award is presented in "Remembrance" of Conservation Officer James D. Pitzer born May 11, 1906 in Clinton County, Indiana; who was "killed in the line of duty" on January 2, 1961, in Jay County, Indiana. Officer Pitzer began his service to the Department of Conservation in 1939 and served faithfully for twenty-two years. His was the "Ultimate Sacrifice."
