Leo Durocher was right

It was Leo Durocher who said something about nice guys finishing last.

The Mad Ants have finished last in their conference in the first two NBA D-League seasons, and if it weren't for expansion Springfield, they'd be there again this year.

What that should be saying is that the powers that be should be re-evaluating what kind of talent they're bringing in.

The Ants are loaded with nice guys; Ron Howard, Jared Reiner, Rob Kurz, Rod Wilmont, Sean Sonderleiter, Ryan Ayers.

Individually, they couldn't be nicer. Collectively, however, they can't compete on a nightly basis in the D-League.

Rio Grande Valley came into Memorial Coliseum on Tuesday and simply had too many athletes, and it showed.

The team is headed for its third straight losing season. Sooner or later, it's going to wear out what fans the Mad Ants have.

Steve Warden blogs all things Mad Ants.
