Roses are red, violets are blue, …

Your valentine will enjoy dinner with you.

Here are more Valentine’s Day celebrations this weekend:

•The Lucky Moose, 622 E. Dupont Road, will open its seafood and prime rib buffet ($17.95) from 5 to 10 p.m. Saturday. The buffet also will include catfish, Royal Red shrimp, ribs, salmon, tilapia, chicken, salad bar and desserts.

Enjoy brunch from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday with an omelet station and the buffet items; the restaurant will close at 9 p.m. Reservations are recommended; call 490-5765.

The Lucky Moose will have combo plates Friday through Sunday. On Tuesday, it will celebrate Mardi Gras with Cajun features.

•Several Hall’s restaurants are having a “lobster party” today through Sunday. For $24.95, get a 5-ounce lobster tail with a 6-ounce filet mignon and two side dishes. Or enjoy two lobster tails with two sides for $26.95. Participating locations are Triangle Park, Tavern at Coventry, Guesthouse Grill, Gas House and the Factory.

•The Rib Room, 1235 E. State Blvd., will have several features on Sunday, including a 10-ounce prime rib dinner with potato and salad for $19.95. Hours are 4 to 10 p.m. For reservations, call 483-9767.

•All five Casa Ristorante Italiano locations will be open from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Sunday with features including oysters Oreganato (with bread crumbs, bacon, red peppers and oregano), veal (with bread crumbs, cheese and brandy sauce or with prosciutto, cheese and Marsala sauce), lasagna (with sausage, pepperoni, meatballs and prosciutto), rigatoni vodka (with chicken and sausage) and Italian wedding soup.

•Switta Thai Cuisine, 5820 Challenger Parkway, will be open from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Sunday with special features. For reservations, call 497-9429.

•Red River Steakhouse (in the Fort Wayne Marriott) is offering a fixed-price menu for two Saturday and Sunday. Enjoy a shared appetizer, two entrées and a dessert-tasting plate for $59.95, which doesn’t include tax or gratuity. Entrées are prime rib, New York strip steak, chicken Chardonnay and crab-stuffed shrimp. Each is served with soup or salad, a side dish and a glass of champagne. The regular menu is also available. Reservations are recommended; call 484-0411.

•Fort Wayne Marriott has two packages available Friday through Sunday. For $165, enjoy dinner for two at Red River Steakhouse, two tickets to Rum Runners, and champagne and chocolates delivered to your room. Or for $145, get two tickets to Rum Runners (with a complimentary appetizer buffet from 7 to 9 p.m.), have chocolates and champagne delivered, then eat breakfast at Red River (or get room service). •Waynedale Bakery is making treats for Valentine’s Day and Fat Tuesday. Get heart-shaped sugar cookies ($7 a dozen), chocolate chunk cookies ($5 for 6-inch cookie or $10 for 9-inch version), heart-shaped cherry cakes with chocolate icing (6-inch for $10 or 8-inch for $22), Paczki ($12 a dozen) and King cakes ($12 and $15). •Brevin’s Downtown in Churubusco is celebrating Friday through Sunday. Features are 8-ounce filet and jumbo shrimp ($20), 16-ounce Cajun prime rib for two ($29.95), blackened salmon ($14.95) and barbecue chicken ($11.95). Those are available after 4 p.m. Friday and Saturday and after 11 a.m. Sunday. There also is a combo dinner with 8-ounce Cajun prime rib, jumbo shrimp and barbecue ribs for $18.95. And the family special includes a 14-inch one-topping pizza, two 9-ounce sirloins and side dishes for $30 – it’s available after 4 p.m. Friday through Sunday.

•Das Nolt Family Dinner House, at 12530 Cuba Road in Grabill, will have its Friday and Saturday buffets with a variety of Amish-style dishes, such as fish, ribs, chicken, mashed potatoes, noodles, homemade bread with peanut butter, wedding cake and pie. The lunch buffet ($7.99) is open from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Friday. The dinner buffet ($9.99) is 2 to 8 p.m. Friday and 4 to 8 p.m. Saturday. For reservations, call 466-4224 or 409-5547.

•East of Chicago Pizza, 202 E. Main St. in North Manchester, will make heart-shaped pizzas Sunday. For $15.99, get the pizza, salad bar and two drinks (dine-in only). Or just get the one-topping heart-shaped pizza for $9.99 (carry-out or delivery). To order, call 260-982-1177.

•Grabill Dairy Sweet in downtown Grabill has this Valentine’s Day special: Buy one sundae, get one free. Sunday hours are noon to 8 p.m.

Acme returns with some classics

After a long wait, the Acme Bar & Grill has reopened with a limited lunch and dinner menu that features many of its popular dishes: pizza, ribs, pork tenderloin, pulled pork, barbecue beef brisket, burgers, patty melt, grilled cheese (with American, Swiss and cheddar), homemade soups, Greek salad and appetizers such as bacon-cheese fries.

The bar, at 1105 E. State Blvd., has Guinness and Bass on tap, plus bottled microbrews and imports.

The full menu is expected to be ready next week, with dishes like beef Manhattan and daily lunch and dinner features.

Pizza delivery is available for a $2 charge.

Hours are 10:30 a.m. to midnight Mondays through Thursdays and 10:30 a.m. to 1 a.m. Fridays and Saturdays. It’s closed on Sundays.

Northrop hosting gala for food bank

Enjoy an evening of art, music and soup at the second-annual Faces of Hunger: Bowls for Change on Feb. 19.

This fundraiser for the Community Harvest Food Bank of Northeast Indiana Inc. runs from 6 to 8:30 p.m. at Northrop High School.

Local artists will provide the keepsake handmade bowls. More artwork will be for sale during the silent auction.

Admission is $10 for adults, $5 for students, and free for children 6 and younger. Additional bowls are $5, and T-shirts are $10. Canned food donations will be accepted, too.

Tickets will be available at the door. For advance tickets, call the school at 467-2300 or the food bank at 447-3696.

Last year’s event raised $5,000.

To donate artwork or handmade bowls, call the school.

Jazz to kick off Philmore opening

The new Philmore on Broadway, 2441 Broadway, is having a grand-opening celebration from 8 p.m. to midnight Saturday.

Enjoy appetizers from Catablu, a cash bar and a performance by jazz recording artist Me’Na.

Tickets are $20 in advance or $25 at the door. For reservations, call 745-1000.

The Philmore is in the former Catablu Grill location. Catablu has moved to Covington Plaza.

Mardi Gras begins at Deer Park Pub

Celebrate Mardi Gras – with gumbo, Paczki and beads – on Tuesday at Deer Park Pub, 1530 Leesburg Road.

Cajun Skip will provide the Zydeco tunes. The celebration starts at 7:30 p.m. The King cake will be cut at 9 p.m.

There is no cover charge.

Parkview to have Irish cooking class

Learn how to prepare Irish dishes when Parkview Women’s Health Center has its next cooking class Feb. 18.

Hungry for Home owners John and Elizabeth Bougher will teach the class, which begins at 6:30 p.m.

It costs $10 for women’s health center members and $20 for non-members.

Old Crown offers $2 latte deals

Grab a $2 latte, any size, at Old Crown Coffee Roasters, 3417 N. Anthony Blvd.

Add 50 cents for flavors and 75 cents for the homemade chocolate or caramel sauce.
