Instant Recall

Sausages recalled

Schmalz European Provisions is recalling about 1,485 pounds of ready-to-eat sausage products that might contain foreign material, the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service announced Thursday.

The product subject to recall includes:

  • 12-ounce packages of "Applegate Farms CERTIFIED ORGANIC FIRE ROASTED RED PEPPER FULLY COOKED CHICKEN & TURKEY SAUSAGE." Each package also indicates "KEEP REFRIGERATED" and "SKINLESS" on the label.
Each package has a use by/freeze by date of Feb. 28 and bears the establishment number "P-5411" inside the USDA mark of inspection. The products were distributed to retailers in Indiana, Ohio, California, Connecticut, Florida, Georgia, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Oregon and Texas.

The company reported consumer complaints about finding plastic materials in the product. FSIS said it has not received any consumer complaints or reports of injury.

Those with questions about the recall should contact Emily Colon, quality assurance specialist, at 800-587-5858.
