Elmhurst closing on Trojan's mind

Just minutes after her team's 66-63 sectional semifinal win over No. 2 Norwell, Elmhurst junior Lacia Gorman put things in perspective.

Because of major budget concerns, Fort Wayne Community Schools is considering closing schools – including Elmhurst.

It is something Elmhurst had to deal with a few years back. Elmhurst survived back then, but now the fate of the school is once again up in the air.

The Trojans, who won last year's Class 3A state championship, is trying to go out in style or maybe even save their school with some hardwood history.

"They are talking about closing Elmhurst this year," said Gorman, who led the Trojans with 28 points. "We want to get through this and give them a reason not to. We want to get another state banner on that wall."
