Boucher gets 1st shutout

Nick Boucher made 19 saves for his first shutout of the season, and the Komets defeated the Quad City Mallards 5-0 on Saturday night, in front of 4,649 fans at i-wireless Center.

Boucher got plenty of offensive help, though, as the Komets put 44 shots on the Quad City net.

Sean O'Connor netted two goals and added an assist. Leo Thomas, Konstantin Shafranov and Frankie DeAngelis also scored. P.C. Drouin and Colin Chaulk both tallied two assists.

Fort Wayne (28-15-2) has won 3 of 4 games, outscoring the opposition 21-6 along the way. Quad City (17-22-8) has lost two in a row.

The Komets play today at Bloomington, Ill.
