Harding had its talented point guard and South Side didn't. Who knows if that would have meant a difference in the Hawks' 70-62 SAC-clinching win Tuesday, but the matchup would have nice to see.
Hawks senior La'Mondre Warren scored 25 points and had several nice passes, some of the no-look variety.
"We try to get the ball into his hands, and he can do some pretty good things with it," Harding coach Al Gooden said.
The Archers would like to get Greg Johnson the ball, but he has been out for awhile with a shoulder injury and his return this season is "doubtful," according to South Side coach Gregg Taylor.
South Side fell behind 41-22 at halftime and had 13 first-half turnovers.
"He has been our floor leader," Taylor said of Johnson. "We are adjusting.
"You just can't dig a hole like that. We have to get that problem solved in a hurry. Sometimes we don't value possessions like we should."
