America sent home Ashley Rodriguez, Janell Wheeler, Joe Munoz and Tyler Grady in Thursday night's episode of "American Idol." The eliminations were the result of the first voting of the season. Here's what we thought of the results:
Angie:
Could that opening number, "American Boy," be any more lip-synched? Holy cow.
Janell Wheeler was the right choice, and she sang just as badly the second time.
Allison Iraheta still bothers me. I don't like her voice at all, or her incredibly fake nylon hair. She sounds like a man and looks like a drag queen.
Ashley Rodriguez was the WRONG choice. I think she was beautiful and incredible and I think she could have really showed us something, but you can't keep around the ones who slack the first week. Her voice is all sorts of wonky on this song tonight. Hate to see her go, but I'm glad Didi Benami is still there.
Joe Munoz should have stayed over Tim Urban. Tim cannot sing to save his life. He's only there because he is adorable. I know Joe was incredibly forgettable because he was hardly shown in Hollywood week, but other than Casey James last night, he sang better than the rest. I'm definitely sad to see him go.
Kris Allen is as adorable as ever and I'm so happy he didn't sing his song that's all over the radio. That song is boring. His rendition of "Let It Be" gave me goosebumps. This is how the contestants need to sing. With emotion. With conviction.
Tyler Grady was absolutely the wrong choice. Alex Lambert should have gone and taken his mullet with him. Just because Tyler has too much swag for America, doesn't mean he should go home. Tyler has more vocal ability than half the other contestants. America got it so wrong.
Anthony:
While I liked Ashley Rodriguez and Tyler Grady, neither of them was going to win anyway. Joe Munoz did an OK job Wednesday, but he wasn't one of the front-runners to begin with. He said Wednesday that his dream was to sing on stage. At least he achieved that. Janell Wheeler, well, who was she again?
By the way, Tyler Grady, "American Woman" is mine. You were a fool to try it.
Ryan:
I was upset the "American Woman" kid Tyler Grady was cut because I love the Guess Who, but then I figured the long-haired loser probably thought it was a Lenny Kravitz original anyway. No other real shockers for me. Florida QB Tim Tebow's alleged girlfriend, Janell Wheeler, is gone. So, which do you think will end up lasting longer, her stint on "Idol" or his time as a starting QB in the NFL?
