Police seek help in bank robbery

A Fort Wayne bank was robbed over the lunch hour, and police are seeking help identifying the suspect.

Officers were called to the National City Bank branch at 3805 S. Calhoun St. shortly before 1:30 p.m.

According to a written statement from Raquel R. Foster, police spokeswoman, the robber stood in line with customers and then handed the teller a note demanding cash.

He fled north, in the direction of South Side High School, with an undisclosed amount of cash.

Officers brought in dogs, but the track ended several blocks away, police said.

The robber was described as black, about 5-feet-9, medium build, with a goatee. He was wearing a black knit stocking cap, a black hooded Carhartt coat, blue jeans and white gym shoes.
