Hotline, clinic open for teen vaccines

The Fort Wayne-Allen County Department of Health has set up a hotline for parents with questions about three vaccines now required for students entering grades 6 through 12 this fall.

State law requires teens to be vaccinated against chickenpox, whooping cough and meningococcal disease by the first day of the next school year. Only students with a valid medical excuse or religious objection will be exempt from the requirement.

For questions, parents can call 449-7506.

The teen clinic will be open from 3 to 6:30 p.m. Mondays through Thursdays this month on the third floor of Carew Medical Park, 1818 Carew St.
