Fire hits building with 4 businesses

Six northeast Indiana fire departments responded to a business fire Wednesday evening north of Angola. The Angola Fire Department was called shortly after 6 p.m. to 1410 Wohlert St. to find smoke billowing from the large commercial building.

The building is occupied by four businesses -- Hi-Pro Inc., Commercial Pallet and Recycling LLC, Case Transport and Third Generation Transport.

The department received mutual aid from the Fremont, Steuben Township, Orland and Hamilton fire departments, while the Hudson Fire Department stood by at the Angola fire station. NIPSCO, Northern Indiana Fuel and Light, Steuben County EMS, the Angola Police Department and the Fremont Police Department also assisted at the scene.

No injuries were reported, and damages are estimated at $50,000.

The Angola department said the cause remains under investigation but is believed to be accidental.
