Photo Friday!

This is the first project Rhea knitted after learning the craft.

The project takes 15 stitch markers, but it's worth it. Safety pins would work, too, I think.

Today we present you with a variety of photos.

This project is something I'm super proud of and I've been thinking about it this week because my dearest friend's son came home for leave from a tour in Afghanistan. A few years ago, when my friend's oldest son joined the Army, he announced to me he wanted a blanket (to replace one I'd made him). What did he want? I asked him and his response was "An Army blanket." No problem, I thought, black, gold and white. Nope, he wanted an Army logo blanket. So, I obliged. Using a download of the image, I plugged into this online graphing program and I had my graph. He finally got the blanket after a tour in Korea was up and he came home for a visit.

A Knitting First

I'm approaching my one-year knitting anniversary and I'm excited about the progress I've made. After learning to knit and purl, my first project was a top-down cardigan. I have yet to sew up the sleeve seams, but after pulling out rows to fix errors, I was just pleased to finally be finished with knitting it. In this photo, I had not yet done the ribbing on the sleeves. My second project was the Entrelac scarf I wrote about earlier.

Closing In...

I'm still working on the idea for my next pattern, but at least I get to use some yummy yarn in the process. Hopefully it will be ready next week, to share with you all. This week's show features a discussion of picking up stitches and making button bands. Also, an interview with Lana Holden of (most recently) Skew fame.
