A man claiming to have a gun robbed a south-side drugstore of prescription painkillers, according to a Fort Wayne police report. The man approached the pharmacy counter in Walgreens at 222 E. Pettit Ave.Two men, a woman and her pet were safe this morning after a fire broke out between their two apartments in the 7300 block of Mill Run.
Fort Wayne firefighters were called at 2:22 a.m. and found fire and smoke between the first and second floors of the apartment building on the southwest side, according to a fire department report. They had the fire contained by 2:33 a.m.
Firefighters removed two men from the upper apartment and the woman and her pet from the lower apartment with help from the Fort Wayne Police Department. A working smoke detector was in the building.
The apartments had minor water damage and moderate smoke damage, the fire department said.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
