Ben Davis rolling at halftime

Ben Davis is halfway to history.

The Giants lead Merrillville 42-22 at halftime in the Class 4A state championship game Saturday at Memorial Coliseum.

With a win, the Giants will win their state-record 58th straight game.

Ben Davis (28-0) is currently tied for the record with the 1985-87 Northrop team.

Ben Davis is ranked No. 1 in the state and No. 2 in the nation by USA Today.

The Giants would become the first boys or girls team in state history to go undefeated in two straight seasons after being 30-0 last year.
