While still not privy to the attendance numbers, crowds for both girls basketball state finals sessions didn't come close to a sellout at Memorial Coliseum.
In the first session for the Class A and 2A title games, the smaller schools brought good contingencies, but with limited students, parents and fan bases, there are only so many they can bring.
The second session had the 3A and 4A games. While the Rushville and Concordia crowds were upward of 3,000 fans each, it still looked paltry compared to the 11,000-seat Coliseum.
There were plenty of empty seats, except in the two opposite corners where Rushville and Concordia fans were sitting (or standing).
It wasn't expected to be much more because one of the bigger schools, Ben Davis, wasn't expected to have a large crowd for the fourth and final game of the night.
Coliseum officials should be proud of the show they helped to produce for the state finals and they can't really control if fans will show up.
