Class A pregame

More than a 5-hour drive from Vincennes didn't seem to keep the Rivet faithful away.

Despite having the longest drive of any of the eight teams at the girls basketball state finals teams, the Patriots' fans turned out in full force for the 10:30 a.m. Class A title game.

Rivet, which is also easily the smallest school in the field with 98 students, had more than 1,000 fans at Memorial Coliseum. Most of them came up on Friday night.

Canterbury, Rivet's Class A opponent for the second straight year, also brought a good-sized crowd with more than 1,000 fans. It was a little easier for the Cavs' fans with the state finals being held at home in Fort Wayne.

The 11,000-seat Coliseum still looked a little empty for the Class A game, but when the 2A fans start mingling in, things will fill up in a hurry.
