A man claiming to have a gun robbed a south-side drugstore of prescription painkillers, according to a Fort Wayne police report. The man approached the pharmacy counter in Walgreens at 222 E. Pettit Ave.A fire in Angola early Tuesday caused an estimated $60,000 damage to a house.
Firefighters were called to 405 E. South St. shortly after 4:30 a.m. to find black smoke and flames coming from the middle of the one-story ranch.
There was heavy fire damage to the furnace room, the kitchen and the attic areas, according to a written statement from T.R. Hagerty, public information officer.
A number of agencies assisted the Angola Fire Department, including the Fremont, Steuben Township, Hamilton, Hudson and Salem Center fire departments, as well as Angola police, the Steuben County Sheriff’s Department, Steuben County EMS, Angola City Dispatch, Steuben County 911 and Dispatch, American Red Cross, Northern Indiana Fuel & Light, NIPSCO and the Angola Water Department.
No injuries were reported, and the cause was listed as accidental.
