After Hurricane Peg blew through the Anderson household – shredding every roll of toilet paper and driving her big brothers batty with her stealth attacks – I had to take action. And when I'm stressed, I shop.
I wanted a scratching post because I figured that after Peg tired of shredding paper she'd discover the joy of shredding furniture. I Googled "cat scratching posts" and eventually found the perfect distraction for my 5-month-old kitty at https://www.spoilmykitty.com. Model B2501 looked perfect: a scratching post with a perch on top, a dangling toy and a tube for relaxing.
No sooner had my husband put the parts together than did Peg discover – and destroy – the ball of yarn dangling from the perch. For hours she has jumped on the perch, scratched the post and lolled around in the tube. Ted has joined her in batting the ball that was once a yarn puff. Al, the skeptic, has even checked out the new plaything.
I had never spent $48 for a cat toy, but this one is worth it. It was also worth the wait – it arrived almost two weeks after I ordered it, but shipping was free.
The best part: Peg is no longer a candidate for declawing now that she's found a way to channel her destructive impulses.
Spoil my kitty? You bet.
