Moses wins state honor

Oak Hill senior guard Courtney Moses won the 2010 Gatorade Indiana Girls Basketball Player of the Year.

The question now is whether Moses is the favorite for the Miss Basketball award. The answer is probably.

The race for the award, announced in a couple of weeks, seems to have come down to Moses, Ben Davis' Dee Dee Williams and Canterbury's Tabitha Gerardot.

Moses, a Purdue recruit, is the only one of the three without a state championship. She did make it to the title game twice and lost to Heritage Christian both years.

I have seen Moses play against Elmhurst twice, and I have to say she would be very deserving of the award if she gets it.

But Williams (also a Purdue recruit) and Gerardot have five state titles between them, with three of them coming from Gerardot.

It will be an interesting race among the three, and I think the voting will be a lot closer than some people might think.
