    A home on Fort Wayne's southeast side sustained heavy fire and smoke damage in a fire Thursday afternoon.

    A man claiming to have a gun robbed a south-side drugstore of prescription painkillers, according to a Fort Wayne police report. The man approached the pharmacy counter in Walgreens at 222 E. Pettit Ave.

    The employee was shot with the stun gun after confronting a man and a woman at a Fort Wayne Kroger store.

Prayer services set for victims of fatal shootings

Heal the Land services will be conducted on Saturday for two people recently shot to death in Allen County.

The first prayer will be offered at 12:15 p.m. at 4002 Avondale Drive in connection with the death of Brandon A. Portee, 23.

Afterward, the second prayer will be offered at 8316 U.S. 27, just south of the city limits, in connection with the death of Kasondra L. Harvey, 44.

The multidenominational services are organized by members of the Peace and Justice Commission of Associated Churches of Fort Wayne and Allen County.
