A man claiming to have a gun robbed a south-side drugstore of prescription painkillers, according to a Fort Wayne police report. The man approached the pharmacy counter in Walgreens at 222 E. Pettit Ave.A house fire at 5518 Bowser Ave. badly damaged a bedroom Saturday afternoon, according to the Fort Wayne Fire Department.
Firefighters were called to the home at 1:40 p.m. after a neighbor noticed smoke coming from the one-story house, according to a fire department report. The fire was contained to the bedroom and extinguished, the report said.
While fire damage was limited to the bedroom, the house sustained smoke damage throughout, according to the report. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
