Purdue got its wish.
The Boilermakers will get to play in the postseason.
After Ohio State, Michigan State, Iowa and Wisconsin landed NCAA bids, that left Purdue as the top team in the Big Ten standings and that gave it an automatic qualifier for the WNIT.
Certainly the Boilermakers rather would have not had their 16-year NCAA streak snapped, but at least now they get a chance to finish above .500.
Purdue (14-16) will play Eastern Michigan (22-8) at 7 p.m. Wednesday in Mackey Arena. If the Boilermakers win, they'll play the winner of Illinois State-Butler.
The site won't be determined on that game until after the first round games are completed. Attendance is evaluated for the winning teams after each game and then site is determined.
If Purdue wins and hosts the second round, the game will be Sunday.
