Boyfriend faces DWI charge in fatal crash

Davis

A Warsaw man was in jail Tuesday morning, accused of causing the death of his girlfriend in a crash a week ago.

Samuel "Sammy" Davis Jr., 34, was arrested Monday by the Kosciusko County Sheriff's Department on a felony charge of driving while intoxicated causing death.

The sheriff's department said the prosecutor's office determined that presumptive blood test results and other evidence provided sufficient probable cause to issue a warrant for his arrest.

Legal blood draw results are still pending from the state lab.

Davis is accused of driving the Saturn that smashed into a tree near Old Road 30 and County Road North 350 West about 4:30 a.m. March 2, killing Victoria L. Anderson, 22, of Warsaw.

Davis was found pinned behind the steering wheel and was initially airlifted to a Fort Wayne hospital, but has since been released. He was being held in the Kosciusko County Jail on a $50,000 bond.

Investigators initially said Davis was driving west on Old Road 30 when the Saturn went off the north side of the road.
