AT THE LIBRARY:

•The Allen County Public Library, 900 Library Plaza, will be performing its “Spring Preschool Puppet Show” at 9:30 and 10:30 a.m. Monday and Thursday and 9:30 and 10:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. Tuesday and Wednesday in Children’s Services. It will also host the “Mangaka” club at 7 p.m. Thursday in Young Adults’ Services. Helen Frost, author of “Crossing Stones,” will speak at 9:30 a.m., 1 p.m. and 7 p.m. Wednesday in Young Adults’ Services.

•The Aboite branch, 5630 Coventry Lane, will teach the fundamentals of art during “Art for Homeschoolers” at 2 p.m. every Thursday.

•The Pontiac branch, 2215 S. Hanna St., has “Sit and Stitch” knitting at 4:30 p.m. every Thursday.

•The Woodburn branch, 4701 Indiana 101 N., has a “Yarn Lovers’ Gathering” at 7 p.m. every Thursday.

ARTIST COMPETITION WINNERS: Rose Meldrum of Huntington, Diana Miller-Pierce of Fort Wayne and Deb Perry of Bluffton were winners of the Celebration of Hoosier Women Artists Competition.

ESSAY CONTEST WINNER: Teyanna Alford, a fourth-grader at Indian Village Elementary, won the Easter Seals Arc essay contest in recognition of Disability Awareness Month.

GRANT AWARDED: Richard Elaver, assistant professor in Indiana University-Purdue University Fort Wayne’s department of visual communication and design, was awarded an IU New Frontiers in Arts and Humanities Grant worth $28,000 for his project, “Tendrils: modular organic systems.”

HALL OF FAME: Martin Becker, the retired director of bands for Warsaw Community High School and current adjunct faculty member at Grace College, was elected to the Indiana Band Director Hall of Fame.
