Theft, fraud suspect now faces lawsuit

Charged with theft and fraud, a 61-year-old Huntington man now faces a lawsuit stemming from thousands of dollars’ worth of charges on Covington Creek Condominiums’ credit card.

Steven Harrison was a property maintenance supervisor at the condominium development for nearly 20 years and began using the condo association’s credit card for unauthorized purchases in January 2006, according to the court documents.

He faces two felony charges, theft and fraud, in Allen Superior Court and was sued this week by the association’s insurance company for $10,000.

According to court documents, Harrison used the credit card to buy a variety of items at local stores, such as dog treats, fish fillets, steak burgers and a remote-controlled helicopter.

He produced only partial receipts that labeled the purchases generally as “gutters” or “toweling.”

The association fired Harrison in July, according to court documents.
