History is made

What has been a magically exciting game -- seriously, it has been great -- has now become a historic one.

Muskegon's Robin Bouchard scored with a shot from the right circle, catching goaltender Tim Haun completely off guard, and it completed a hat trick and tied the game at 3 in the second period at Memorial Coliseum.

It also tied Bouchard with Don Parsons for the most goals in the history of minor-league hockey with 682.

Bouchard spent two games with the Komets in the higher-level old IHL in 1996-97. It was his only stop in the AAA level of hockey. By his own admission, he killed his chances of ever moving up by quitting the team that year.

It's worked out, though, as he is about to become the Crash Davis of hockey. Stay tuned. With this back-and-forth action between the IHL's top two teams, he could score another tonight.
