It's one thing to be lousy. It's another to be lousy and have skin so thin you can see through it.
That's pretty much the story these days for the 7-63 New Jersey Nets and their CEO, Brett Yormark, aka Mr. Sensitive. It seems Yormark spotted a fan wearing a paper bag over his head the other night, and marched over to confront him about it.
"Why are you wearing a paper bag over your head?" Yormark demanded, words to that effect.
Several responses would have been appropriate:
1. "Because the Nets are 7-63."
2. "Because the Nets are 7-63 and I'm still paying 50-20 prices."
3. "Because I couldn't find my Brett Yormark mask."
Instead, the fan, identified as Chris Lisi of Middletown, N.J., responded, "Because the Nets are so good." Which wasn't a bad response itself.
Yormark then snapped at Lisi and stomped off.
If he'd have been smart, he'd have bought the guy a beer and offered him tickets to the next home game. Of course, if he were smart, his team wouldn't be 7-63.
