Gerardot third for Miss Basketball

Canterbury senior Tabitha Gerardot finished third in the 2010 Miss Basketball race, behind winner Courtney Moses from Oak Hill and Dee Dee Williams from Ben Davis.

Moses received 106 votes from media and coaches around the state in the voting announced Wednesday.

Williams was second with 52 votes and Gerardot third with 21 votes. No other player received more than 10.

Speaking of Moses, the Purdue recruit has an interesting connection to former Norwell player Haley Chaney.

After Chaney's life-threatening accident in 2008, Moses started communication with the then-Norwell junior with words of encouragement and prayer.

The two have remained friends.
