Doozy of a game, tied at 2

Sorry I've been quieter tonight. You can thank Memorial Coliseum, which, as is customary around here, can't provide reliable internet.

Is this the opportune time to mention there are 63 accredited members of the media at this game? I can't think of another event that has been in these parts with that many reporters, photographers, and radio and TV personalities.

As for the game, it's been great. It's tied at 2 late in the second period between the top team in the nation, Miami, and the hottest team, Michigan.

Back and forth the whole way. Player of the game, so far, has been Pat Cannone of Miami, who has two goals.

The ice looks better tonight than Saturday, when Redhawks coach Enrico Blasie trashed the conditions in the postgame news conference.

I've seen several scouts in the building. Word is, Steve Yzerman, the former Red Wings great (and idol to yours truly) is in the house.

Not a lot of fans -- I'm guessing 3,400 -- but a really nice atmosphere. I'm giving the edge in cheers and chants to Michigan. Best one yet: "Racist Mascot," toward the Redhawks' faithful.
