Syroczynski scores twice in K’s rout

Matt Syroczynski scored twice, leading the Komets to a 5-1 win at Dayton.

Sean O’Connor had one goal and one assist while Nick Boucher made 28 saves for Fort Wayne (42-20-3), which has won seven of 10.

Dayton grabbed the early lead when A.J. MacLean scored at 9:18 of the first period. Corey Couturier assisted.

O’Connor assisted Guy Dupuis for Fort Wayne’s first goal at 12:51 of the first period. Dupuis has 10 goals this year.

Matt Syroczynski gave the Komets their first lead with an unassisted goal at 14:20 of the second period.

O’Connor made it 3-1, scoring his 17th goal of the year 32 seconds later. Frankie DeAngelis assisted.

Brandon Warner extended the lead to 4-1, scoring at 15:43 of the third period. David Hukalo assisted.

Syroczynski’s second goal came on a power play at 19:35. Colin Chaulk and P.C. Drouin were credited with assists.

Fort Wayne returns to action at 4 p.m. today at Flint.
