Verbatim: Lima Road work to continue through October

Statement issued Wednesday:

The Indiana Department of Transportation (INDOT) Fort Wayne District announces that S.R. 3/Lima Road southbound lane will be restricted from Wallen Road to Dupont Road beginning at 8 a.m. on Monday. Traffic will be restricted to one 11-foot travel lane so crews may prepare the work zone.

On Wednesday, April 7, the northbound lane will also be restricted to one 11-foot travel lane. Motorists will then travel on a single-lane in both directions through October.

Also during the week of April 5, Northbrook Street will have a 14-day closure with the Wal-Mart entrance remaining open. The closure is due to the installation of a storm drain.

The contractor will begin removal of pavement and placing temporary gravel connections, and access will be maintained to businesses.

Motorists should drive with caution as other utility relocation work continues south of Wallen Road.

This is a Major Moves $23 million added travel lanes project. The limits of the 2.88 mile project are from Ludwig Road to Dupont Road. The project includes three northbound and three southbound lanes, raised center curb median separating opposing traffic, curb/gutter, closed drainage system, inlets, sewer pipes and 8 foot wide multi-path on both sides. The project will be complete in 2011.
