The Philadelphia Eagles were already in line for a Breathazlyer for wanting to trade a perfectly good perennial Pro Bowl quarterback anyway. But now that the trade has gone off ... well, now you wonder if they're both drunk and insane.
Not only did they dump 33-year-old Donovan McNabb, who's still got tons of wear left on him, they dumped him on the Washington Redskins, a division rival. And they basically got nothing for him -- two draft picks, neither of them a first-rounder.
What the-??
""Donovan McNabb was more than a franchise quarterback for this team," Eagles chairman Jeffrey Lurie said. "He truly embodied all of the attributes of a great quarterback and of a great person. He has been an excellent representative of this organization and the entire National Football League both on and off the field. I look forward to honoring him as one of the greatest Eagles of all time and hopefully see him enshrined in the Pro Football Hall of Fame in Canton one day."
So if he's "one of the greatest Eagles of all time," why did you trade him, Jeffrey?
Inquiring minds want to know.
