Alternative Use for Stitch Markers
I always have trouble figuring out how much yarn I have used on a project. I think I will just remember, then I forget. I figure I can count yarn-ends, but what happens if I find a knot? I tried counting how many balls of yarn I began with, but that doesn't seem to work either. Saving ball bands? This technique always gives in to my compulsive need to clean out my knitting bag, and throw them away.
So, this time, I attached a locking stitch marker to the center of the circle sweater each time I added a new ball of yarn.
I finished making the border on the circle portion of the sweater last night, so it is washed and lain out to dry/block. I'm going to start the first sleeve tonight. All of this progress is good, since I'm planning on writing it up and sharing it with you all on Sunday.
Now all I need is a cold snap so that I can wear the thing without suffocating. Go ahead and blame me if that happens.
Oh, and when I washed the circle portion of the sweater, I removed and hooked the stitch markers to each other. There are seven of them. I wrote it down. But, just in case I need to recalculate for some reason, the little bunch of markers is safely in my knitting bag...if one of the cats hasn't fished them out.
