New Haven keeps steak, seafood on Tap

Dig into the “Garbage salad” at the new Canal Tap Haus in New Haven.

The chopped lettuce is topped with salami, ham, turkey, cheddar, egg and tomato.

Other menu items are burgers (including the Big Buster), sandwiches such as an Italian sub, Reuben, pulled pork, fish, turkey club, and appetizers such as nachos, deep-fried pickles and gizzards.

Dinners include steak, barbecue ribs, fried haddock and chicken tenders.

The bar is inside Hall’s Commissary Restaurant, at 216 Indiana 930.

The bar opens at 3:30 p.m. Mondays through Saturdays and noon Sundays.

Raise a glass to the Embassy

Celebrate the second annual Embatini, a fundraising dinner for Embassy Theatre, at 5:30 p.m. April 14.

The menu will be prepared by Catablu Grill.

The event will also include a demonstration of the Grande Page Theater Pipe Organ and a program on Embassy history.

Tickets are $85. Reservations are required; call the box office at 424-6287.

Weekend menu stays at Red River

Due to popular demand, Red River Steakhouse will extend its special weekend menu through April 30.

The $9.99 features are prime rib, smoked beef brisket and pulled pork. Add five grilled shrimp to any of those for $4.99.

Each entrée is served with a choice of side salad, baked potato or soup.

They are available from 4 to 10 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays.

The steakhouse is in the Fort Wayne Marriott at 305 E. Washington Center Road.

99-cents menu at Dunkin’ Donuts

To help Indiana customers save more money, Dunkin’ Donuts has unveiled a value menu with six items that cost 99 cents each.

The items are the bacon, egg and cheese wrap; sausage, egg and cheese wrap; egg and cheese wrap; coffee roll; nine-piece hash browns; and an order of five Munchkins.

All breakfast sandwiches and wraps can be made with egg whites, by request.

Subway breakfast adds egg-white fare

Subway has added four egg-white breakfast sandwiches to its menu.

The Fresh Fit sandwiches, made with light wheat English muffins, have fewer than 180 calories and 4.5 grams of fat apiece. They all have 5 grams of fiber. Choices are the Western egg and cheese; egg and cheese; Black Forest ham and cheese; and steak, egg and cheese.

Tidbits

•Farmers & Hunters Feeding the Hungry will have a fundraising garage sale Thursday through Saturday at LBJ Country Hall, 5276 County Road 4 in Hamilton. Hours are 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Proceeds will help feed hungry families in northeast Indiana.

•Caliente 2, a Cuban restaurant at 2000 Brooklyn Ave., has closed.
