A Monroeville girl has died after injuries she suffered in an off-road vehicle crash this week.
Chelsea Hart, 15, was critically injured after she became trapped under a Kawasaki Teryx on Tuesday night, according to Indiana conservation officers. According to her obituary, Hart died Thursday. She is survived by her parents and two brothers.
Officers were called just before 8 p.m. Tuesday for a report of a crash just outside Monroeville.
Amanda Wherry, 14, of New Haven was driving the Kawasaki Teryx on Figel Road when she tried to turn into the driveway at 14308 Figel Road, where one of her passengers, 14-year-old Derek J. Franke, lives, officers said.
Investigators believe Wherry was driving too fast and lost traction with the front tires of the all-terrain vehicle.
When the tires hit the grass, they gained traction again, causing the vehicle to flip onto the passenger side.
Wherry and Hart were trapped under the vehicle.
Franke was thrown. Wherry and Franke were taken to Parkview Hospital, where they were treated and released. Hart was initially flown to Parkview.
Hart was a freshman at Heritage High School in Monroeville and also played on the girls softball team.
She was a member of St. John Lutheran Flatrock Church in Monroeville.
Funeral arrangements are with Zwick & Jahn Funeral Home in Monroeville. Visitation is from 5 to 8 p.m. Sunday and from 1 to 5 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
A service will follow at 11 a.m. Tuesday at St. John Lutheran Flatrock Church.
