In an expected move, JaJaun Johnson will declare for the NBA draft but not hire an agent, according to The Sporting News.
The article cites a "source." It said Johnson will announce his decision later this week. Johnson is being projected as a late first-round or second-round pick, the story said.
Purdue hasn't released anything official.
The Boilermakers will have their season-ending banquet Tuesday night. If Johnson decides to make anything official, we'll have it.
This is the most logical move for Johnson, a 6-foot-10 senior-to-be. By not hiring an agent, he can still return to Purdue. Why not put your name out there and see what NBA folks are saying? Would seem to make sense for E'Twaun Moore, too. If the NBA guys don't think Moore is ready, he'll hear it and come back.
Moore said earlier in the season he was "definitely" coming back to Purdue, so we'll see how this shakes out. Johnson, as we've reported, has never been solid publicly either way.
