Pho 888, serving traditional Vietnamese cuisine, has opened in the 14 Square plaza at 4916 Illinois Road.
Besides pho, a soup made with rice noodles, the restaurant offers a variety of beef, pork, chicken, seafood and vegetable dishes that are spiced with combinations of fish sauce, soy sauce, lemongrass, mint and other herbs. Appetizers include fried dumplings, crab Rangoon and spring rolls.
Hours are 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Mondays through Thursdays, 11 a.m. to 9:30 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays, and noon to 8 p.m. Sundays.

Inn in Wabash takes 1920s atmosphere
Go back in time at Twenty, a casual upscale restaurant inside the renovated Charley Creek Inn – the former Hotel Indiana – in downtown Wabash.

The hotel also will have a Mother’s Day brunch with seating at 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. May 9. It’s $17.95 for adults and $9.95 for ages 5 to 12.

The historic boutique hotel, built in 1920, reopened in December after two years of renovations.
Springtime in air at Barr Street Cafe
The student-run Barr Street Cafe’s final menu of the school year offers a taste of spring.
Features are grilled lamb chops with sweet and sour compote ($8.95), grilled fresh salmon with lime-ginger butter ($6.95) and roasted pork loin stuffed with spinach and prosciutto ($5.95).
Each week, the café in Anthis Career Center, 1200 S. Barr St., will feature a different salad, sandwich, soup, pasta and desserts.
Hours are 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Tuesdays through Thursdays through May 13. The café will reopen in the fall.

55-cent burgers honor McDonald’s
On Thursday, participating McDonald’s in northern Indiana will sell 55-cent hamburgers to celebrate the restaurant’s 55th anniversary and Tax Day.
The special price is available from 10:30 a.m. until closing. There is a limit of five 55-cent hamburgers per customer.
Ray Kroc’s first McDonald’s restaurant opened in Des Plaines, Ill., on April 15, 1955, the same day he incorporated McDonald’s Corp. Today, there are more than 32,000 restaurants, including 89 in northern Indiana.
Angola bakery marks milestone
Heavenly Breads & Sweets in Angola will celebrate its one-year anniversary Friday and Saturday.
That means all customers who buy at least $5 of bakery treats will get a piece of the anniversary cake.
