Former Notre Dame quarterback Jimmy Clausen's longer than expected wait ended in the second round.
Clausen was taken with the 48th pick overall by the Carolina Panthers. The 6-foot-3, 223-pound Westlake Village, Calif., native was expected to go in Thursday's first round.
Clausen threw for 3,722 yards, with 28 touchdowns and four interceptions last season. He completed 289 of 425 passes and averaged 310.2 passing yards per game.
For his career, Clausen started 22 of 23 games and threw for 8,148 yards with 60 touchdowns and 27 interceptions.
