Markle woman found dead in Huntington lake

The body of a 73-year-old woman was discovered in Clair Lake on Thursday night.

Huntington County Coroner Leon Hurlburt is awaiting autopsy results to determine the cause of death for Treva Geiger of Markle. Geiger was spotted floating about 40 yards from shore by a passer-by just before 7 p.m., Leon Hurlburt said.

It's unclear how long she had been in the water, though Hurlburt said she likely died Thursday.

Geiger was found near North Broadway Street and Old U.S. 24, just east of the Huntington city limits.
