Blue-Gold first quarter

The first quarter came to end in the Blue-Gold Game with the Blue team holding a 13-6 lead.

Dayne Crist led the Blue on a pair of 70-yard scoring drives. Cierre Wood capped the first scoring drive with a 3-yard run, and T.J. Jones scored on an 18-yard pass.

Wood also had a big run in the opening quarter, blowing past safety Harrison Smith for 31-yard run.

The Gold's touchdown came on a shovel pass from Nate Montana to Mike Ragone. The Montana-Ragone connection carried the Gold's offense in the first quarter.

Ragone had six catches for 73 yards with the score.

Notre Dame will need to work on place kicking. The Irish made only 1 of 3 point-after attempts.

David Ruffer hit the right upright on his second attempt for the Blue team, and Nick Tausch didn't get to attempt his point-after kick when the holder couldn't handle that snap, which looked low.

On the draft front, former Irish offensive lineman Sam Young was selected by the Dallas Cowboys with the 10th pick (179th overall) in the sixth round.
