Byrd's big (long) day

Russell Byrd had a long day Saturday, but a successful one as well.

The Blackhawk Christian senior played in the Canterbury golf invitational at Sycamore Hills and shot a team-best 81.

He then headed to Saint Francis for the Nancy Rehm/Border Wars Classic and dropped 25 points for Indiana in a 106-82 win over Ohio.

It earned him MVP honors as Indiana broke a four-game losing streak to Ohio.

The lone problem was when Byrd arrived for the basketball game, he had missed the team picture.

The Michigan State recruit will next play basketball in the Indiana-Kentucky all-star series June 11-12.
