Lacrosse day May 8

The Homestead Lacrosse Club is sponsoring the Homestead Community Lacrosse Day on May 8. It will provide nonstop lacrosse action from 10 a.m. to 9:30 pm, along with food, raffles, games, radar-gun-tracked speed throws and lots of information about the sport, camps, equipment, and more.

The games will be played on the Homestead High School Football fields and in the nearby Van Hoozen Park by the Aboite fire station.

Visitors and participants are asked to bring a canned food item that will be collected and donated to Community Harvest Food bank.

The games are free. A raffle will feature lacrosse gear, jerseys from pro teams and major college programs such as Notre Dame, Vera Bradley bags and other sponsor-donated items.

Nelson's chicken, hot dogs, hamburgers and other food items will also be available. Empire Lacrosse, a lacrosse equipment specialty retailer from Indianapolis, will have a tent. Trilogy Lacrosse in Pittsburgh is offering a scholarship to its lacrosse camp.

The game schedule is:

  • 10 a.m.: Southwest Lacrosse fifth/sixth grade vs Heritage Christian;
  • 10 a.m.: Homestead boys JV vs Guerin Catholic;
