Terrible turnover leads to Port Huron lead

Dare I say, the Komets were playing well until what just transpired late in the first period.

Defenseman Danko Mironovic made an ill-advised pass up the middle, intended for Colin Chaulk, and he missed. It was intercepted by the Icehawks, who got a goal from Derek Patrosso, who fired the shot out of the right corner and it knuckled over the glove of Nick Boucher.

The goal was scored with three seconds remaining in the first period, and it gave Port Huron a 1-0 lead.

The Icehawks lead the series 3-1. They've outshot the Komets 16-10 so far, but I think Fort Wayne has played pretty well. There's only been one problem: Two of their best scoring chances, from Brandon Warner and Kevin Bertram, sailed wide of the net.

Ah, the death of the wrist shot continues.

Port Huron goaltender Raffaele D'Orso has made some incredible saves, though. In an early sequence, he stopped Matt Syroczynski, David Hukalo and Chaulk in the span of three seconds.
