A free plastic barrel from Coca-Cola will be my second rain barrel after I buy some hardware.

If you have one, you will want another

I am amazed with how well my rain barrel has been working. In theory I thought it would work, but I built it late last fall and didn't get to try it out until this spring. The barrel fills up quickly with what seems like so little rain. I decided I wanted another barrel.

After reading Meegan Siegwart's blog about free plastic barrels at Coca-Cola, I arranged to borrow my neighbor's truck. Yesterday I went to Coca-Cola and picked up a barrel for myself and one for each of my two neighbors. Since there was still space after loading three, I added a fourth. I figured that someone would notice the barrels and would want one. Sure enough, when I arrived home, my neighbor's brother saw the barrels and mentioned they were nicer than the ones he bought. He wanted to add another rain barrel at his home so off it went.

There are still a few left at Coca-Cola.

Coca-Cola at 5010 Airport Express has given out free plastic barrels, but call ahead, 747-1804, to make sure they have some available.
