An Icehawk's guarantee

This ought to give the Komets the chalkboard material they need.

Port Huron defenseman Jamie Lovell, when asked about tonight's Game 7 against the Komets, told Paul Costanzo of The Times Herald:

"The three games that we've been there, I've been surprised (by the small size of the crowds)," Lovell said. "But maybe that's because their fans are expecting them to go to the finals and they're waiting for the finals. They better come (today) because it's going to be their last game."

Granted, I always think things like this are blown out of proportion. What's he supposed to say? "I'm not sure we're going to win?"

However, it's interesting that he took a shot at the fans and the Komets in the same breath.

He's right about a couple things, though. The fans had better show up for this one or I shall never, ever, call this a hockey town again. And there has seemed to be a sense of entitlement around here when it came to making the finals.

With that, I have a warning: Everyone, inside and outside the locker room, seems to be taking Game 7 for granted just because it's at the Coliseum. That would be a mistake. Port Huron has got the guns to win this thing. So the Komets had better not let down.

The Komets must get big games tonight from center Colin Chaulk and goaltender Nick Boucher. Those go without saying. But there has to be an X-factor for the Komets. I think someone like Lincoln Kaleigh Schrock or Frankie DeAngelis is due to affect things in a big way.
