Bring on Flint

This season and maybe even the next?

I've given this great thought and decided, it's no contest, the Komets should be rooting for the Flint Generals to win back-to-back games and reach the Turner Cup Finals.

I know, the Komets struggled all season with the Generals. I also know, Muskegon has some injury issues at goaltender. However, there's one thing that trumps everything -- home-ice advantage.

The Komets just came off their third successful comeback from a 3-1 deficit in six years. Home-ice advantage has played a big part in that. There's no question, really, the Komets have the best home-ice advantage in the IHL, so they had better root for Flint on those merits alone.

  • I guess if you cover this league long enough, you see just about everything. Despite today's announcement by the North American Hockey League that it will field a team at Perani Arena next season, the IHL still plans to have a team at the same venue. Let me get this straight: Flint hasn't proved it can support one team -- although, ownership problems have had the biggest thing to do with that -- and now it's going to have two?
  • Don't forget, tonight's episode of "We've got Game" will have Komets center Justin Hodgman among the guests. You can use the radio button on the right to listen to the show live from 6 to 7 p.m., or anytime after that you can hear the replay. Listen Wednesday at work, Thursday while playing the Halo beta or Friday while downloading the latest Paramore album, whenever.
