Ice Chips

  • Pretty great highlights
Check out the video highlights above from the Komets 2-1 victory over the Indy Fuel in an overtime shootout at Memorial Coliseum.
  • K's douse Fuel with shootout win
Komets forward Eric Faille left the game for a spell in the third period, after he took a stick to the face that required stitches. But he returned and it was a good thing for the Komets; he had one of their two goals in an overtime shootout,
  • Meurs does it again
Right wing Garrett Meurs has made another great play and it has the Komets up 1-0 on the Indy Fuel after two periods at Memorial Coliseum.

The Komets' quotes

Here are the quotes the Komets used on the scoreboard to help fire up the crowd before Monday night's 4-0 victory by Fort Wayne:

  • "Never underestimate the heart of a champion." -- coach Al Sims, although he stole that from Rudy Tomjanovich.
  • "Tired is for losers." -- Colin Chaulk
  • "It's going to be a great fight." -- Guy Dupuis
  • "See you Monday night." -- Colin Chaulk
  • "I had so much fun last year, I came back to do it again." -- Justin Hodgman
There really is no telling on the schedule yet. Because neither the Muskegon Lumberjacks nor the Flint Generals want to jinx it, they haven't spoken too much about dates yet.

There is a possibility, if the Komets play Muskegon, that the series starts Friday. The most likely scenario is that the series, against either team, would start Saturday. But it's really too tough to tell, and we won't know until Thursday.

Oh, and it could be formatted 1-1-1-1-1-1-1 or 2-2-1-1-1, mostly because of events at Memorial Coliseum, as usual.

  • Stan Drulia resigns in Port Huron. No shock there. Good coach, just not in elimination games, but I know he wasn't happy with the direction of the IHL.
